Hearing set on proposed CDS Stoneridge water rate increase
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 2 days, 7 hours AGO
BLANCHARD — The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has scheduled a customer hearing in May to take testimony on an application submitted by CDS Stoneridge Utilities LLC seeking approval to increase the rates it charges for water service.
CDS Stoneridge is requesting approval to increase its overall revenues by 43 percent. The utility said the increase is needed to address system deficiencies identified in a Department of Environmental Quality sanitary survey and to recover lost revenue after one of its customers, the Stoneridge Golf Course, constructed its own well and stopped purchasing water from the utility.
To generate the additional revenue, CDS Stoneridge proposes increasing monthly minimum customer charges based on meter size, ranging from three-quarter-inch to 6‑inch meters.
Under the proposal, customers with three-quarter-inch and 1‑inch meters would see their monthly minimum charge increase from $28.85 to $39.70. For customers with 1.5‑inch meters, the monthly minimum charge would rise from $115.50 to $158.80.
Customers with 2‑inch meters would see their monthly minimum charge increase from $205.50 to $282.26, while those with 2.5‑inch meters would see the charge increase from $320.75 to $441.06. For customers with 3‑inch meters, the proposed monthly minimum charge would rise from $462 to $635.19.
Larger customers would also see increases. Monthly minimum charges for 4‑inch meters would increase from $821.25 to $1,129.05, and charges for 6‑inch meters would increase from $1,847.50 to $2,540.76.
The customer hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Blanchard Community Center, 685 Rusho Lane in Blanchard. The hearing will begin at 5 p.m. (PDT) and continue until 8 p.m. or until all customer testimony has been taken, whichever comes first. Testimony will be taken from both in-person attendees and callers, beginning with those present at the hearing.
Customers wanting to submit testimony remotely or listen to the hearing may call 1‑208‑985‑2810 and enter conference number 491 690 998# when prompted.
