MUSEUM: 'Gem' to be appreciated by all
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 weeks, 4 days AGO
As a long time member and volunteer of the Museum of North Idaho I attended a Member’s Appreciation Party April 16. The first year anniversary was celebrated with a large cake. The many attendees also had time to peruse the latest additions while enjoying food and drink. Our museum is now in its permanent home which is on the north side of Tubbs Hill just south of the city offices and the beautiful library. Visiting is a treat. This is a dynamic environment that tells so many stories of our local history, in this Most Beautiful of Places.
The three full-time employees, along with the board and the myriad of volunteers is who bring this 1905 renovated home of J.C. White (formerly at 8th and Sherman) to life. The ongoing “valuable” component are the guests who visit from locally, statewide and internationally. Please visit and take photos and share with your friends. I personally know the loss of something I took for granted because it “was so close and available.” This gem is in our backyard. Make sure to come with your family and friends.
The museum has expanded in many ways. Many children’s programs as well as filling the website with many digital images and a half-acre lawn which allows for many activities.
A gem is best when it is viewed and appreciated by all. Thanks to a great deal of money and effort from so many, we all benefit. I know I have.
