PREP SOFTBALL: Unbeaten Coeur d’Alene takes over first place in 6A IEL with sweep of Lake City

COEUR d’ALENE — Junior Jenna Davenport struck out 14 and pitched a three-hit shutout in the opener, then went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs in the nightcap as the Coeur d’Alene Vikings swept the visiting Lake City Timberwolves 8-0 and 10-4 on Tuesday at Larry Schwenke Field to take over first place in the 6A Inland Empire League. 

Davenport hit an RBI double in the first inning of the first game for Coeur d’Alene (14-0, 4-0 6A IEL). 

Savannah Stevens and Ellie Henderson each went 3 for 4 in the opener for the Vikings, and Abbey Linder was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored. 

Adi Wenglikowski went 3 for 3 in the second game with two RBIs and two runs scored for Coeur d’Alene. Wenglikowski and Kyndal Bridge each had two-run singles in a six-run second inning. 

Ollie Dudley went 4 for 7 with two RBIs and two runs scored on the day for the Vikings.   

Macy Waterhouse had three hits on the day for Lake City (12-3, 4-2), and Mia Kesner hit a solo homer in the second game. 

Coeur d’Alene plays host to Post Falls in a 6A IEL doubleheader on Thursday. 

Lake City plays host to Coeur d’Alene on Saturday in a league doubleheader.

MOSCOW — Junior Abigail Helmholz struck out 11 in the opener, and junior Raygen Dutton homered twice and drove in five runs in the nightcap as the first-place Hawks swept the Bears in 5A Inland Empire League play at the Moscow School District Community Playfields. 

Dutton hit a three-run homer in a five-run third in the second game for Lakeland (14-4, 8-0 5A IEL), then added a two-run shot in a seven-run seventh. 

For the day, she went 5 for 8 with two doubles, two homers, seven RBIs and four runs scored.  

Kiersten Drake drove in three runs in the second game for Lakeland. For the day, she was 6 for 9 with three RBIs and five runs scored. 

Ada Blakemore went 5 for 10 on the day with three RBIs and four runs scored for the Hawks. Delilah Zimmerman drove in five runs on the day. Avah Gonzales had two hits and knocked in four runs in the second game. 

Moscow is 2-17, 1-7. 

Lakeland travels to Post Falls on Saturday for a doubleheader.
