Trotters dance with Wolves in Three Forks
JOHN HAMILTON | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 3 weeks AGO
Fresh off of being floated out of Plains by rains last week, coach Jon Zigler and his Trotters went to Three Forks Saturday and lost twice to the No. 3 ranked Wolves 11-0 and 12-5.
Zigler and the Trotters get back to work more locally this week, playing MAC (Mission-Arle-Charlo) at Mission Thursday and Eureka at Eureka Saturday.
Though not impressed with all the rain Plains endured last week, forcing the rescheduling of the Thompson Falls game (from April 13 to April 27 in Plains), Zigler was certainly impressed with what he saw from the Three Forks girls Saturday.
“Their pitching was exceptional all day,” he said, “really keeping our offense at bay.”
Zigler said the Trotters played strong defense and Bri Kulawinski pitched well in both games, also praising the outfield trio Kinsley Jospehson, Emery Josephson and Taryn Meredith for fine play. “Randi Kigore, Montana Taylor and Cooper Spurr played very well defensively too,” he added.
In addition to her fine pitching, Kulawkinski also did some great base running in Three Forks, scoring three runs in the second game with the Wolves Saturday.
Taylor had a base hit and a run batted in in that game, and Kinsley Josephson and Kilgore scored a run apiece.
Emery Josephson had a base hit in each game against Three Forks.
Zigler is thinking positive thoughts heading into this week’s games. “Overall, considering the strength of our opponent,” he said. “I'm happy with our efforts. We're looking forward to seeing MAC for the first time this season and then heading to Eureka on Saturday.”
The Trotters defeated Eureka in Plains two weeks ago but have not faced MAC yet in Western B-C conference play.
