40 Under 40 an example of why North Idaho is strong

Tonight, 40 people under the age of 40 will come together at the Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn, where they will be recognized for a remarkable list of qualities — all of them good.

They are bright, creative, energetic and driven. They are professionals who excel in their careers, but they are also neighbors, volunteers, mentors and organizers.

They are the kind of people who work hard not just at their jobs, but for the communities they call home. In many ways, they represent the present — and the future — of North Idaho.

That helps explain why the North Idaho Business Journal, a publication of Hagadone Communications, is committed to honoring them through its annual 40 Under 40 recognition.

“In every corner of North Idaho, young professionals are stepping up — not just to lead, but to reimagine what leadership means,” said Clint Schroeder, president and corporate publisher for Hagadone Communications. “They’re bold, community-focused and willing to do the hard work.”

This recognition is about far more than professional achievement, impressive resumes or job titles. The 40 Under 40 program shines a light on people who help make this region a great place to live, work and raise families. These honorees are part of the reason North Idaho’s businesses are healthy, growing and competitive. They bring innovation to the workplace, integrity to leadership roles and enthusiasm to long-term goals. Their contributions help ensure that local organizations, nonprofits and companies continue to thrive.

Yes, they performed their jobs exceptionally well — but they also went far beyond what was required of them.

We know this because of the nominations. When we asked the community to nominate candidates for last year’s 40 Under 40 honor, the response was overwhelming. We heard story after story of young professionals volunteering at shelters, coaching youth sports and supporting school programs.

We learned of nominees who served on boards and committees, joined environmental cleanup efforts and donated their time and talents to benefit seniors and those in need. These were not occasional gestures, but ongoing commitments.

Too often, younger generations are criticized or written off as lazy, uninspired or overly focused on themselves. The individuals being honored tonight prove that stereotype wrong. What we see in this group is initiative, compassion, and a deep investment in the well-being of others. They are stepping up, taking responsibility and leading with purpose. We’re glad to have them.

Tonight’s celebration is not just about recognizing achievement — it’s about acknowledging the people who are quietly and consistently making North Idaho stronger.

Please join us in offering congratulations to this year’s 40 Under 40 honorees. We are confident they will continue to demonstrate the qualifies that make our future even brighter.
