Upon his graduation from high school, he followed in his older brother’s footsteps and enlisted in the Air Force prior to the Korean War. Near the end of his enlistment, he courted and married the love of his life Jacqueline Virgina Dufloth in 1949. Almost one year later, Virginia birthed the first of their five children, Karen Marie, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Being the oldest and only daughter, he had a special relationship with her. He proudly gave her hand in marriage to Michel Pellegrino. Almo was left heartbroken upon her early death due to colon cancer, Sept. 16, 2019.

Even though he ventured into the world of work he always longed for a farming way of life due to his upbringing in farm country. He loved having animals and once he secured a miniature farm after his retirement, he gathered the usual farm critters and found joy in caring for them. He absolutely loved dogs and had many over the span of his lifetime, his favorite breed was the German shorthair, a hunting species.
Almo was an avid outdoorsman who loved the camping life, hunting and fishing, especially when he was able to include his sons on his adventures. The most memorable was the hunt conducted on the Blacktail Ranch near Wolf Creek, Montana. Also notable was the guided antelope/deer hunt in Northern Wyoming. As well as numerous salmon fishing trips to Westport in the State of Washington. The family was a member of a camping club, and they partook in several outings with other members.
He was very family oriented in that he supported each of the children’s chosen interests, whether it be sports like baseball or football, Seattlets and Scouts. He attended as many events as he was able.
