North Idaho Classical Academy is honored to be part of the vibrant and growing communities of Boundary and Bonner counties.
As a new public charter school opening in Bonners Ferry, our mission is to train the minds and improve the hearts of students through a classical, content-rich curriculum that emphasizes virtuous living, traditional learning, and civic responsibility.
This past year has been one of extraordinary progress. From initial planning and partnerships to construction now visibly taking shape, the academy is quickly becoming a reality. The front entry is rising, timbers are being set, and windows are going in — each step marking meaningful momentum toward opening our doors in August. The excitement in the community has been remarkable, with nearly every set filled. The Academy will initially open serving kindergarten through seventh grade with 240 students and will add one grade level each year until reaching twelfth grade, ultimately enrolling 390 students.
North Idaho Classical Academy is built on the time-tested model of classical education, emphasizing strong academics, moral character, and the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. Our curriculum is rooted in the liberal arts and sciences, incorporating literature, history, mathematics, science, and the fine arts in a coherent and intentional sequence. We are proud to partner with leading organizations such as the Hillsdale College K-12 Education Office, which provides our curriculum as well as training and resources for our teachers, school leadership, and board (all at no cost), so we can ensure that our students receive a time-tested, content rich, and teacher-led education.
Beyond academics, the academy is designed to be a cornerstone of the community. Our campus is envisioned as a gathering place — one that reflects the beauty and values of North Idaho while offering spaces that can serve families, events, and community activities. With over 30 staff members anticipated, the school will also contribute significantly to the local economy, bringing both educational opportunity and economic impact to the region.
Looking ahead, 2026 marks a pivotal year. As construction continues and we prepare for our inaugural school year, our focus is on hiring exceptional teachers, finalizing operational systems, and building strong relationships with families. We are also working closely with local partners and agencies to ensure a smooth and successful opening.
The future of North Idaho Classical Academy is bright. We are grateful for the overwhelming support from the community and excited to play a role in shaping the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and citizens. Together, we are building not just a school, but a lasting legacy of educational excellence in Boundary County and beyond.
