Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 weeks, 2 days AGO
Shared Harvest Community Garden will celebrate its opening day of the 2026 growing season from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
All are welcome to join for garden chores, food, music, kids activities and family-friendly fun. Doughnuts, hot dogs and beverages will be served. Kyle Swaffard will provide live music. Guests are encouraged to bring side dishes, finger foods or desserts to share.
Founded in 2008, Shared Harvest is at 1004 E. Foster Ave., Coeur d'Alene.
In 2025, the nonprofit garden donated over 2,100 pounds of fresh organic produce and nonperishable food items to a food bank. All produce grown in the Donation Garden is given to the community annually. The summer 2026 Donation Garden harvest schedule will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays from May to October.
The garden provides habitat for birds, bees, squirrels and other neighborhood wildlife. The grounds are a gathering place for people, as well. Shared Harvest offers picnic tables, benches, a performance stage, walking paths and shade from 100-year-old oak trees.
