The Libby Farmer’s Market has a new home in the heart of town as it prepares to host opening day Thursday, May 7.

The market will be held at the Libby Lofts property at the corner of Mineral Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard. The market signed a lease with Lofts owners Zach and Tracy McNew.

The market will be held from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. each Thursday through Sept. 24.

Libby city councilors approved a request Monday night from market Board of Directors member Mandy Bell to use public parking for vendors who sell from their trailers.

Bell explained that there are about five to seven vendors who sell from their trailers.

“We have 150 different vendors and we average about 850 visitors each week throughout the season with about 1,000 visitors in July,” Bell said.

Vendors will offer a wide range of products, including fresh produce, baked goods, handmade items and local products.

Most vendors will be in the grassy park area so customers can easily access vendors from the parking lot to the sidewalks that go through the park, according to information from the market board.

“Handicapped spaces will be well-designated with easy-to-read signage,” Bell said. “There will be off-street parking near the old high school.”

The market is accepting vendor applications throughout the season. They must be submitted 10 days before the market that they want to attend so the board can review them.  

Applications are available at https://www.thefarmersmarketatlibby.com/vendors. They may be filled out and submitted online or printed and dropped off at the market’s shed on the Libby Lofts property.

Bell said the Asa Wood property, where the 2025 market was held, was generously offered to the Farmers Market again this season by Chris Noble, but the Market Board made the decision to move to avoid the unknown factors of a new building going in and road work happening this summer.  

Board members expressed their thanks to Noble Excavating and Paul Nicely for his expertise in moving the shed.

“We are very grateful for the help in getting this big job done,” the board said.

There will also be a seed swap at the first market.
