PREP ROUNDUP: Coeur d'Alene edges Lake City in tennis

COEUR d'ALENE — The Coeur d'Alene Vikings swept in girls doubles to beat the Lake City Timberwolves 7-5 on Thursday.
Boys matches were played at Lake City High and girls matches and mixed doubles were played at Coeur d’Alene High.
“It was great to get the team win today,” Coeur d’Alene coach Corey DeLeonard said. “I am especially proud of the way our doubles teams played today. There were a lot of close matches that went to tiebreakers and actually could have gone either way.”
Both Coeur d’Alene and Lake City will compete in the Inland Empire Tournament today and Saturday in the Spokane area.

COEUR d’ALENE — Junior Jenna Davenport homered and drove in five runs in the opener, and struck out 14 in five innings of relief in the nightcap, as the Vikings swept the Trojans in 6A Inland Empire League play at Larry Schwenke Field.
Davenport fanned seven and allowed six hits in the opener for Coeur d’Alene (16-0, 6-0 6A IEL). She also went 3 for 3 with a three-run homer in a 12-run first inning for the Vikings.
Savannah Stevens also had a two-run double in the first inning of the opener for Coeur d’Alene. Ellie Henderson went 5 for 5 with five RBIs and two runs scored on the day for the Vikings. She drove in four runs in the second game, two on a third-inning double.
In the second game, Rylan Morrison hit a three-run inside-the-park home run in the third inning to give Post Falls (6-10, 0-8) a 3-2 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Henderson’s two-run double gave Coeur d’Alene a 4-3 lead, and Adi Wenglikowski added an RBI single.
In the first inning of the opener, Kulani Peahu’s two-run triple gave Post Falls the early lead, before the Vikings responded with 12 runs in the bottom half.
On Saturday, Coeur d’Alene travels to Lake City for a 6A IEL doubleheader, and Post Falls plays host to Lakeland in a twinbill.

KELLOGG — The Wildcats handed the visiting Bulldogs their first league loss in the Central Idaho League game at Kellogg Middle School.
Sarah Gloyn hit a two-run single in the third inning, and Joci Lee struck out 12 for Kellogg (10-4, 7-3 CIL).
Grangeville is 8-9, 6-1.
The teams are scheduled to play a CIL doubleheader at Kellogg today at noon.

Timberlake's Noble wins
in playoff at StoneRidge
BLANCHARD — Timberlake’s Rose Noble won a playoff against Kellogg’s Kendyl Bircher for girls medalist at the Priest River Invitational at StoneRidge Golf Course.
Noble and Bircher had a putt-off for the title, with Noble edging Bircher.
Patrick Young of Bonners Ferry won boys medalist with a 1-over-par 72.
Priest River won the boys team title and Kellogg claimed the girls team title.
