Columbia Falls, Libby win Saturday at Showcase

MISSOULA — Columbia Falls got a combined five-inning no-hitter and beat Corvallis 8-0, and Libby’s B Michalkiewicz threw four shutout frams in a 9-3 win over Ronan Saturday, at the Missoula PaddleHeads Baseball Showcase at Ogren-Allegiant Field.

Tayvin Beach threw the firt two innings for the Wildcats, walking two and fanning one; Derek Juntunen got the next seven outs, three by strikeout, while walking three; Zede Dunn got the final two outs in the fifth, fanning one.
Columbia Falls got all the scoring it needed in the first inning, with Jett Pitts and Tristan Victor hitting RBI singles to spark a five-run outburst. A bases-loaded walk to Jaxson Cadwell and an error that let in two runs added to the woes for Corvallis.
Nico Young scored twice while Pitts had two hits and two RBIs. Dunn also drove in a run. Lincoln Fisher and Wyatt Dodson hit doubles for the Cats (7-3).
Libby 9, Ronan 3
Bransen Holzer and Dalton Cannon had three hits each for the Loggers (4-5).
Kale Riddle had an RBI single in the first inning for Libby, and the Loggers didn’t slow down until they were up 9-0 in the sixth. The game ended after six because of time limits.
Holzer singled in Riddle to start a three-run fourth inning; Elijah Foulke and Cannon both added RBI singles in that frame. Holzer added another RBI single in the fifth.
Michalkiewicz allowed two hit and a walk in his four innings on the mound. He fanned three. Kale Hall finished up and was touched for three runs (one earned) in the sixth. He allowed four hits and struck out four.
Joseph Fulwiler tripled with one out in the sixth to spark Ronan’s late rally. Caiden Pierre hit an RBI single in the inning.
