Larry Lee Schranck, 86

Larry Lee Schranck, 86, passed away peacefully at home April 13, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. 

He was born June 30, 1939, in Mitchell, S.D. He was the only child of Lawrence and Wilhelmina Schranck.

After graduating from high school, Larry joined the Navy, where he enjoyed seeing the world on his ship, the USS MacKenzie.

Larry married his “beautiful bride” Patricia on Sept. 11, 1971. Together, they built a life centered around family where they were blessed with eight children: Lee Schranck ( Nichole), children: Lance, Lynzie ( Mielki their daughter Oaklynn) and Jaxen, Christine Elliott daughters: Ava and Samantha, Mark dog: Jordan, Jay (Shannon)  daughter Makayla, Julie Russell (Matt) children: Dean (Chloe), Hudson, and Addison, Stephanie Schranck children Makenzie, Brenden and Dalia, Theresa Porter (Louis) children: Lucas, Tristan, and Lydia, and Megan Schranck (Steve) son Aiden. 

In 1986, Larry and Patricia moved their family to Sagle, where they raised their children in a loving home on Jewel Lake. Their lives were filled with love, laughter, hard work, family dogs and llamas. Larry deeply loved the outdoors and took great joy in teaching his children how to hunt, cut firewood, and appreciate nature. He also instilled in them the values of honesty, kindness, love, and hard work. 

Larry is preceded in death by his parents and extended family members. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Patricia; his 8 children; 16 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and his lifelong friend, Pat Dailey. 

While Larry may be gone, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
