Kathryn Rose Lawr was born Feb. 11, 1941, to Keith and Ruby Cunningham in Crandon, Wis. At 2 years old, she moved with her family to St. Maries, Idaho, where she spent her formative years, including graduating from St. Maries High School around 1960.

Kathryn, known by her family and friends as “Kitty,” relished her time in St. Maries and remained close to friends she made there most of her life.

Kitty married Jack Lawr shortly after graduating and had one daughter, Stephanie Marie, born Sept. 20, 1963. They lived in Coeur d’ Alene and Anchorage, Alaska, during Stephanie’s childhood. Stephanie was the love of Kitty’s life and tragically passed away in a car accident in 2014.

Kitty worked in banking in Coeur d’Alene and Boise before retiring and moving in with her dad to care for him at his home in Coeur d’Alene. He passed in 2011 and Kitty remained in the house until 2023, when she moved into assisted living.

In addition to her mom and dad, Kitty was predeceased by her sister, Shelby Jean, her brother, Billy, and her daughter, Stephanie. She is survived by her two nieces, Melanie Richardson and Tricia Nixon, and her nephew, Craig Hepton.

An informal memorial will be held Saturday, May 2, at 11:30 a.m. at McEuen Park, followed by a luncheon.

English Funeral Chapel was entrusted with her care.
