This May is the 8th annual Hit the Trail Challenge, a month-long community event celebrating health, outdoor recreation and conservation. Whether hiking, running, biking, or riding horseback, every mile logged on the Whitefish Trail supports the stewardship and long-term care of the local trail system and surrounding open lands, and Whitefish Legacy Partner’s goal of raising $30,000 for the trail.

Participants can join as individuals or as part of a team. For the second year in a row, Legacy Partners is partnering with Connect Whitefish’s Walk N Roll initiative, which encourages residents to walk, bike, or roll instead of driving, takes place during the Hit the Trail Challenge. Together, these efforts promote active, human-powered transportation, healthier lifestyles and stronger local connections.

“We’re lucky to have the Whitefish Trail right in our backyard, and this is a simple way for people to get outside, feel good, and give back at the same time,” said Nathan Tuebner, Legacy Partners program manager. “Every mile really does make a difference.”

Throughout May, participants can log their trail miles and in-town trips using an online form, paper log sheet, or by joining the Hit the Trail Challenge Strava Club. Log miles this May at whitefishlegacy.org/httc.

Participants will be entered into weekly raffle drawings. It’s a great way to stay motivated, explore the outdoors, and contribute to the goal of 30,000 miles and $30,000 raised in support of the Whitefish Trail.
