Whitefish came out swinging and never slowed down, piling up 11 hits in a 16-10 win over Belgrade at the Missoula PaddleHeads High School Showcase Friday at Ogren-Allegiant Park.
Carter Godsey set the tone early for the Bulldogs (4-3), launching a three-run homer in the first after an RBI single from Reed Boyer. Whitefish broke it open with a seven-run second inning.
Boyer drove in four runs; Reyd Hobart, Drew Queen, Luke Dalen and Tait Orme all chipped in multiple hits as the lineup produced throughout.
Whitefish kept adding in the middle innings, stretching the lead to 16-7 by the fourth before Belgrade made a late push.
The Panthers (4-5) collected eight hits and put together a four-run fourth. Memphis Wagner homered, while Chance Stephens and Andrew Hazen helped spark the rally. Brayton Van Dyken added two RBIs.
Orme picked up the win for Whitefish, allowing three runs over threeplus innings.
The Bulldogs couldn’t carry their momentum into the second game of the day, falling to Frenchtown, 7-0.
After the Broncs already took control early 3-0, Frenchtown broke it open with a four-run fourth inning.
The Bulldogs were held hitless, drawing four walks but never finding any rhythm at the plate.
Whitefish pitchers issued 12 walks, but Frenchtown’s Dawson Rodoni tossed six hitless innings with nine strikeouts. Cash Mickey drove in three runs to lead the Broncs.
This week the Bulldogs play Columbia Falls at home April 29 and Bigfork at home April 30.
