Non-injury sheep collision Sunday morning

One driver collided with a flock of sheep at around 3 a.m. Sunday morning. Over half of the flock was lost because of the collision, however the driver was not injured.

MOSES LAKE — One driver collided with a flock of around 50 sheep in the 700 block of Road 4 Northeast, near Mae Valley, at around 3 a.m. Sunday.
“The driver was unable to avoid the collision and around 30 sheep were struck,” Grant County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Kyle Foreman said. “Public works came out afterwards and cleared the carcasses from the roadway and the guy continued on his way to work.”
Foreman said the driver was not injured from the collision. However, around 30 sheep died from the crash. The owners of the sheep contacted deputies, and the remaining 20 sheep have been returned home.
“In the Columbia Basin, there's always a risk of livestock in the roadway,” Foreman said. “Motorists are reminded to pay attention, keep their speeds at or under the speed limit.”
Foreman said if anyone is involved in a livestock and vehicle collision, they should call 911.
“Let us know if any people were hurt, that is the most important thing,” Foreman said. “Then deputies will respond to assist the motorist.”

Warden council bans kratom, considers parking regulations
WARDEN — Warden City Council passed a kratom ban and special event permit Tuesday night. It also discussed its comprehensive plan update and an ordinance for parking regulations. Columbia Basin Hospital nominates Allred for board
EPHRATA — The Columbia Basin Hospital received one application for a vacant seat on the Board of Commissioners for Public Hospital District No. 3. Dr. Lowell Allred has applied for the role. He was officially nominated for the role at the April 28 board of commissioners meeting. “Public notice of this nomination shall occur between April 29 and May 14, to allow time for registered voters residing in the hospital district to also submit nominees for the vacant position,” said Chief Executive Officer Rosalinda Kibby.
