PREP ROUNDUP: DeMent homers, drives in three for Lake City on senior day

COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Karsyn DeMent went 3 for 4 with a two-run homer in the sixth and three RBIs as the Lake City Timberwolves beat the Lewiston Bengals 10-1 on senior day Monday at Lake City.
Lake City’s second game of the day, vs. Bonners Ferry, went down as a forfeit due to a shortage of players for the Badgers. The teams played an informal game anyway.
Sophomore Alexandria Bracy hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning for Lake City (14-5). Tabitha Lopez had two hits and drove in two runs.
Junior Madeline Peterson struck out 14, walked none and allowed three hits, facing just 25 batters,
“Today was the perfect day to celebrate our seniors and the legacy they have built,” Lake City coach Jordyn Hensley said. “KaeLee (Kolden), Karsyn, Mia (Kesner) and Kyla (Smith) have played such an important role on our team and today was a fun day honoring them. Now, we focus on districts and the job we have to do.”
Lewiston is 7-14, Bonners Ferry 2-12.
Lake City will play host to Post Falls on Thursday at 4 p.m. in a loser-out game in the 6A District 1 tournament. The winner will play Coeur d’Alene in a best-of-3 series for the district title, starting Saturday at Coeur d’Alene.

POST FALLS — Junior Jaya Felix hit a three-run homer in the third and finished with four RBIs as the host Trojans downed the Tigers in nonleague play.
Junior Kulani Peahu went 4 for 4 with three RBIs and three runs scored for Post Falls (7-12). Senior McKenna Zimmerman had two hits and drove in three runs, and sophomore Rylan Morrison was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Prestyn Gardner homered and Shae Jones drove in three runs for Timberlake (9-7).
Timberlake travels to St. Maries on Wednesday.

Kellogg boys, girls win in tourney at The Links
POST FALLS — Kellogg’s boys and girls swept the team titles at the Genesis Prep Invitational at The Links Golf Club.
Kellogg’s boys shot 346 and won by two strokes over Bonners Ferry.
Chase Lovell of Potlatch earned medalist honors, defeating Henry Driskell of Logos on the first playoff hole, after each shot 3-over-par 76s.
Zeke Watts of St. Maries was fourth with a 79.
Kellogg’s girls shot 414, two shots better than Logos.
