Baseball: C-Falls beats Whitefish; Polson sweeps Browning

WHITEFISH — Jaxson Cadwell and Lincoln Fisher drove in two runs each as Columbia Falls downed rival Whitefish 8-2 in a high school baseball showdown Wednesday at Smith Fields.
Cadwell broke a 2-all tie with a two-run triple to left, highlighting a six-run fifth inning for the Wildcats (8-3).
Jett Pitts added an RBI double later in the frame. He finished the day 4-for-5 at the plate.
Whitefish (6-4) found the scoreboard first with two runs coming in on a groundout from Luke Dalen. Reyd Hobart came in on the play, while Drew Queen scored on a throwing error.
Pitts added six innings on the bump, allowing two runs on four hits. He fanned six. Tayvin Beach added one no-hit inning in relief.
Tait Orme went four innings on the mound for Whitefish, allowing one run on nine hits.

POLSON — Case Cox had three hits and four RBIs as Polson swept a Wednesday doubleheader against Browning.
Cox’s big day came in the Pirates’ (7-5) second victory, a 22-0 showing. He also scored three runs.
Carson Emerson added three RBIs on one hit.
Brayson DuMont threw all three innings for Polson, allowing no hits and striking out six batters.
In the first game, Liam Jackson drove in a trio of runs on one hit. He scored twice himself.
Paxson DuMont took the honors on the bump, going all three innings and fanning four. He did not allow a hit.
Both games ended early due to the run rule.
Browning fell to 0-6.
