Four Bobcats qualify for Russ Pilcher Top 10

The Superior Bobcats track and field team will be well represented by four of their best athletes at the April 28 Russ Pilcher Top 10 Meet at MCPS Stadium in Missoula.
Coach Logan Labbe reports that Ava White and Maryisa Swope with the girls and George Hanson and Landon Richards with the boys earned their spots in the Pilcher meet by posting qualifying marks to earn invitations to it.
Richards currently leads all of Montana Class C in the high jump and has already prequalified for the State C meet in that event and Hanson has also punched his ticket to State in the pole vault.
Also sitting in the top three or four of their events in the statewide Class C ranks, White will compete in the 300 meter hurdles in Missoula and Swope in the javelin, Labbe indicated.
Aiming for the District 14C meet in Missoula May 15-16, Superior will participate in the Bigfork Invitational Saturday.
The Bobcats warmed up for this week’s action by competing in the Seeley-Swan Invitational in Missoula Saturday.
The usual suspects led Superior as White placed in three events – winning the 300 meter hurdles in 48.33 seconds, taking third in the 100 meter hurdles in 16.70 and placing sixth in the pole vault with a best mark of 7-0 to lead the girls– and Richards placed in two – winning the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 4 inches and placing fifth in the 110 meter hurdles in 16.41 to lead the boys. The Superior girls finished with 16 team points in Missoula and the boys with 12.
Freshman Lily Jasper won sixth place in the triple jump with a mark of 31 feet, 2.5 inches for Superior’s other team points in Missoula.
Labbe is upbeat heading into the stretch run of the track and field campaign.
“We have several other athletes that will be contenders in the Western C division, once we get into meet shape and heal up from some minor injuries,” he said. “Very proud of our team and the work they have put in so far.”
