Gloria Hammon went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 21, 2026. She was born in Primghar, Iowa, to N.H. and Verona Behrens on Sept. 8, 1946, and grew up in Germantown and Paullina, Iowa. She graduated from Paullina High School in 1964, then attended the Professional Business Institute in Minneapolis, Minn., where she became a dental assistant.

Gloria and William Kimball were married Nov. 5, 1966, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. They had two daughters, Wendy and Heidi. Gloria attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa, and became a registered nurse. Life took the family to Alaska, where they lived for almost 30 years.

Gloria married Fred Hammon on July 10, 1993, and gained two more daughters, Catherine and Melinda. Her 35-year nursing career consisted of pediatric and coronary care nursing, office, home health, hospice care, private duty nursing and hospital day-surgery nursing. She enjoyed traveling with her high school friends and especially with her best traveling companion, Barbara Hines. She loved roses and tried to have as many flowers and plants wherever she lived.

Gloria leaves behind daughters: Wendy (Tim) Johnson of Spokane Valley, Wash., Heidi (Jeff) Baker of Everson, Wash., Catherine (Rick) Miller of Maumee, Ohio, Melinda (Rick) Carlyle of Diana, Texas; brother Roger (Kate) Behrens of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister Deanne French of Lake Forest, Calif.; sister-in-law Marco Behrens of Gilbert, Ariz.; grandsons: Nicholas, Silas, Thaddaeus, Cameron, Drew, Bradley, Destin; and granddaughters: Chelsea, Brianne and Christiana. Her crowning joys were her 13 great-grandchildren: Asaph, Naomi, Abner, Shiloh, Ephraim, Haddie, Moriah, Emery, Copeland, Kason, Khelby, Jaxin and an expected great-grandson.

Gloria attended Trinity Lutheran Church of Coeur d’Alene and especially enjoyed their Love Day quilting group. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Fred, and older brother Gene.

A service will be held at a later date to be announced. Memorials may be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church Youth Group.
