The Mountain Brook Homestead Foundation invites the community to gather for its annual Spring Pie Social on Saturday, May 2, from 4-7 p.m. at the National Register-listed Mountain Brook School campus.

This year’s event includes homemade pies, chili, baked potatoes and ice cream, along with live acoustic music by the Swan Range Jammers. Guests will also enjoy raffle sales for a stunning handmade quilt, crafted and donated by the Mountain Brook Ladies Club and Friends. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20.

The Spring Pie Social is more than a community gathering, it is a tradition that reaches back to 1938, when the original Mountain Brook Ladies Club began hosting socials and quilting bees. What began as a way to bring neighbors together has grown into the foundation’s signature event, carrying the spirit of connection forward while supporting the organization and raising funds for the preservation and rehabilitation of the 1922 Mountain Brook Schoolhouse.

“This event is where history, community and a really good slice of pie come together,” said Sharon Martin, team lead on the preservation project.

Funds raised from the Spring Pie Social support the foundation’s mission to preserve a 100 plus year legacy, raise awareness of local history and strengthen community connections.
