Noxon track and field is alive and well in Sanders County, the Red Devils proved that at the Thompson Falls Invitational at Previs Field in Thompson Falls April 21.
Competing in the varsity and junior varsity meets, the Devil girls scored 21 to place in a tie for eighth in varsity team scoring, while the Noxon boys finished the varsity meet with 18.5 team points.
In the JV meet, the Noxon girls won the team title with 72 points while the boys JV scored 17 points and finished tenth.
Back with the varsity, Sandy Bonney continued her outstanding spring by placing third in a very tough javelin competition with a best effort of 109-7 and just missing placing in the shot put with a best first-time effort of 28-3.
Abby Yoder, Emily Yoder, Shiloh Huntsman and Georgia Boehme teamed up to clock 5:29 and win second in the 1600 mete relay, Abby Yoder placed third in the 100 meter hurdles and Boehme sixth in the 1600 meters to complete scoring for the Red Devil girls in Thompson Falls.
Zane Brown won first place in the 110 meter hurdles (in 20.48 seconds)and second in the 300 hurdles (49.98) to pace the Noxon boys varsity efforts. Vance Brown tied for sixth.
