SANDPOINT — It is a business renowned in the region for quality and dedication to the community.

It's no wonder then that Wood’s Meat Processing was recognized as the Greater Sandpoint Chamber Business of the Month for April.

Established in 1973, Wood’s Meat Processing was launched by Steve and Louise Wood on the V-X Ranch north of Sandpoint. They wanted to create a small processing facility for the local ranchers as well as give them a way to raise and sell their own beef. In 1978, they built the current facility and made the decision to become a USDA meat processing plant where they work with a full-time USDA meat inspector.

Their daughter, Jody Russell and son-in-law Todd Russell are both part-owners today, keeping with the tradition of a small family-owned operation.

Wood’s Meat Processing officials said they are proud to offer their all-natural beef that has been born and raised on the ranch. They pride themselves on offering a high-quality product to the community.

In addition to their own products, Wood's also offers local farmers and ranchers a quality place to bring their animals for processing. In addition, they work with hunters by processing their successful hunts into all kinds of products such as burger, breakfast sausage, smokies and many other smoked products.

Wood’s Meat Processing has continually helped the community through contributions to local events, such as the Bonner County Fair, the Bonner County Rodeo, the fairgrounds, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the Bonner Community Food Bank, and many individual organizations.

“We are proud to support our community as much as possible to ensure a bright future for everyone in the community that we love so much,” Jody Russell said.
