Inspired by childhood dreams, Little Sky, a solo exhibition of new drawings and paintings by Bruna Massadas, is on display at Good Luck Gallery in downtown Kalispell.

The exhibition features intimate works that explore light, reflection, and memory through recurring depictions of the sun mirrored in water. An artist reception will be held Saturday, May 9 from 4 to 6 p.m. The show runs until June 5.

Little Sky originates from one of Massadas’ most vivid childhood dreams: two suns setting over a lake she visited while growing up in Rio de Janeiro. In the dream, land disappears entirely — leaving only sun, water and light.

This distilled, almost surreal vision has become a lasting motif in her practice. Over the past several years, Massadas has returned to this moment again and again, using elemental forms as symbolic language to express emotion, perception and illusion.

In this new body of work, the artist offers a quiet yet expansive meditation on place. While rooted in memory, Little Sky subtly invokes Montana’s vast landscapes. Each composition is tightly framed, with a high horizon line and an emphasis on reflection — transforming the sky into a luminous portrait contained within water. These small-scale works invite close looking, offering viewers a concentrated experience of something typically immense.

Born in Brazil in 1985, Massadas is a Montana-based painter whose work has been widely exhibited across the United States. She has recently shown with The Pit, Bozomag, My Pet Ram, and Gallery 16. In 2025, she was awarded a Creative West Grant and presented solo exhibitions at de boer Gallery and McClain Gallery. Massadas is the founder of Second Nature Gallery, an instructor at Montana State University, and is represented by McClain Gallery.

Good Luck Gallery, 127 Main Street, Kalispell, is open Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and by appointment. For more information, visit goodluckmt.com.
