BONNERS FERRY — A mailer encouraging unaffiliated voters to register as Republicans was not sent by the Boundary County Elections Office, officials said Thursday.

The mailer, which appears to have been sent by the group Save Our Schools Idaho, recently came to officials' attention, said Cherry Grainger, Boundary County elections director.

“The County Clerk would like to assure the public that the mailers were not sent out by our office and are not official election correspondence,” Grainger said in a statement on behalf of Boundary County Clerk Glenda Poston.

The deadline to change voter affiliation, which is set by Idaho Code 34-411A, was March 13.

Unaffiliated voters who wish to change their party affiliation must now wait until they vote in person on May 19 during the primary election.
