Personal firewood permits available online

Idaho Panhandle National Forests firewood permits are now available through a new online E-Permit system, eliminating the need to travel to a Forest Service office. The link is on the forest’s permits web page under Gathering Firewood.
Personal firewood is currently free on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, allowing a woodcutter to gather up to 12 cords per year for household use.
“Registration can be done online from anywhere at any time, without having to worry about busy schedules or driving all the way to a ranger station,” said Forest Supervisor Tim Gilloon. “This is another example of how the Forest Service is removing unnecessary obstacles and speeding the delivery of services while further preserving the culture of independence and self-reliance we have here in North Idaho.”
Firewood permits are still available in person.
