100 Years Ago

The officers of the Leonia Gold Mining Co. with placer and quartz claims near Leonia are pleased with the assay of ores uncovered in tunnels #3 and #4. Tunnel #3 showed values of galena ore at $34.64 while #4 showed $90.20.

Six commercial students from BFHS will make a 1,500 mile roundtrip by auto to Boise to enter the Idaho State Typing Contest.

The movie here tonight and Friday is Charlie Chaplin in "The Gold Rush." Other cities have charged $1-$2, to see this movie, but our price is 25 cents.

Popular Valley View principal, Bob Nelson resigns.

The old Moyie Bridge was sold by the county for $1 and the old Restorium for $100.

Bob Meeker was named "Outstanding Fireman of the Year".

Don Hamilton was named "Outstanding Policeman of the Year".

As of May 1, the Chic n' Chop will be under new management, Earl and Ruby Erickson and family have leased the business from John Taft.

Expect a raging Moyie River this spring. Not only does the National Weather Service say it is 90 percent likely that the Moyie River will exceed flood stage, there is a possibility flows will exceed a record set in 1916.

Beta Sigma Phi honored Wilma Devore as Woman of the Year at the annual Founder's Day gathering hosted by the XI Alpha Mu chapter .

Lewis and Clark State College senior, Casey Hampton, Qualified for the NAIA national outdoor track meet. Casey is a Bonners Ferry High School graduate.
