Full name:  Tim Bertling

Profession:  self-employed logger

Educational background: graduated B.F.H.S. in 1987, then some College

How many years as a Boundary County resident: I've lived here my whole life except 3 years as a baby and 1 year in Colorado logging

Marital status: I've been married to my wife Wendy for 38 years

Family: 2 adult children

1. Get the good neighbor authority (GNA) with the U.S.F.S. done and keep working on pushing for grants for Riverside Park.

2. Get our own forester so we can actively treat the forest service ground. Get planning and zoning back on track and that is what we are doing.

3. No response.

4. Budget: keeping the county running on the budget we have and still make improvements to our infrastructure.

5. Where the county has come from with the landfill and Road and Bridge. The landfill was going to be closed in 8 years. We rolled the dice and used DEQ money and they drilled 5 wells that came up dry. A good thing now is that we have a clean bill of health. We will stay open now and not go to a transfer station. With R&B we have upgraded equipment so we can better attend to our roads. Combining the two departments will save money and make both departments more efficient.

6. Just talking things out. There is common ground, you just have to find it.

7. We live in a beautiful place. We need to keep up on our road infrastructure with chip sealing and dust abatement.

8. Not that I know of. Things change and evolve, then you adjust and deal with it.

9. It is running the county's monthly and yearly business from roads to planning and zoning, keeping a balanced budget and more influencing and educating people on county needs for payment in lieu of taxes (PILT) or Secure Rural Schools (SRS) money.

10. Why are you running? For me, I love this county. I work in it and play in it from fishing to hunting and bike riding. I have no agenda, just what’s best for the county. We are a great county. We just need to keep our mills open and keep working in the forests.

11. I bring common sense and a proven track record of working with people. I know this county better than most and want to keep serving the community.
