Laura Jean Davis, 85, from Priest Lake, Idaho, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, at the Priest River Community Center with Pastor Althea Sondahl and Steve England of Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Priest Lake officiating. Laura will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River.
Laura was born on November 16, 1940, in Missoula, Mont., to Francis Theodore and Clara Irene Allen. She grew up in Spokane, Wash., where she attended local schools and graduated from Central Valley High School. Following graduation, she worked as a waitress at The Plantation in Spokane.
On September 21, 1963, Laura married Buddy Davis in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They made their home in Kennewick, Wash., where she devoted herself to raising their family while also working as a store detective for Valu-Mart.
In 1974, the family moved to Spokane Valley. For many years, she was a devoted and trusted leader at Leo’s Photography Studio. More than an employee, she was the person who kept the studio running smoothly, serving as its steady foundation through her hard work, kindness and exceptional leadership.
After retiring to Priest Lake in 1997, Laura served as the librarian at the Priest Lake Library. She was a faithful member of Lamb of God Lutheran Church and the Priest Lake Lions Club. Laura was a wonderful dancer and enjoyed playing cribbage, reading, working word puzzles, camping, socializing with friends, and sharing her wonderful sense of humor. She will be remembered for her kindness, warm heart, and the joy she brought to those around her.
Laura is survived by her loving husband of nearly 63 years, Buddy Davis; her three children, Chris Davis of Coweta, Okla., Sandy (Wayne) Brower of Priest River, Idaho, and Tracy (Joe) LaFayette of Newman Lake, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Aleia (Dan) Warren of Rathdrum, Idaho, Kayden (Stasha) Brower of Fargo, N.D., Morgan (Chris) Strange of Priest River, Idaho, Michael (Abby) Bach of Spokane, Wash., Gabrielle (Lawrence) Blythe of Liberty Lake, Wash., Ashley (Moses) Leasiolagi of Tulsa, Okla., and Kelsey (Austin) Lohman of Spokane Valley, Wash.; 18 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Bob (Diane) Allen of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her family, she leaves behind chosen family, Cricket and Maria Haas
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Ted Allen and Ken Allen; her sisters, Mary Katherine Ruud and Margaret Rich; and her son-in-law, Scott Bach.
