SANDPOINT — You never know the impact you can have on someone through simple encouragement.  

That’s how Idahome Hardscapes started.  

After Tyler Chenoweth was approached numerous times by customers encouraging him to start his own landscaping business, he figured it was worth a shot.  

“I had clients and other people tell me that I should run my own business because of my artistic abilities. And I was like, ‘Well, if enough people call you an orange, you’re probably an orange,’” Chenoweth said.  

Since the age of 10, Chenoweth has been honing his landscaping abilities, learning what it means to truly turn yardwork into artwork, a slogan that has since been the center of IdaHome Hardscapes.  

Now, five years after starting his Cocolalla-based business, Chenoweth still pursues each job with the same excitement as if it were his first.  

“I just have a passion for landscaping; I literally have a passion for getting down there and working,” Chenoweth said. “It might be a lot of math, but it’s also a lot of fun seeing a three-tier garden bed come to life. To turn what other people see as rocks and make them into a waterfall, water feature, all that stuff.” 

Chenoweth specializes in a variety of landscaping services, from mulch installation and shrub trimming to patio design and construction, retaining walls, full land design, water features and more. The company additionally offers astro turf, 3D design consultations and pergola and BBQ area designs, according to its website.  

Through his work throughout Bonner County, Chenoweth said he truly enjoys getting to serve the community, meeting and connecting with new people with every new job.  

His passion for transforming backyards is just one of the key reasons for starting Idahome Hardscapes.  

His family is the other.  

“I want to provide my family with more than I was ever provided for. I’m trying to be the one to break the wheel of my family, and really just make a real impact and change for my kids,” Chenoweth said.  

Providing for his family, said Chenoweth, starts with being a good steward to the public.
