Hayden photographer, Tahoe jewelry makers showcase talents at Art on the Green

For Linda Lantzy, the 58th Art on the Green on Saturday was another snapshot of North Idaho life.

And as a photographer, she was happy to showcase the landscape images she's captured in the region.

"To me, it's all about the light. You can have a great subject to put in the frame, but you really must have good lighting," she said on a sunny, hot day at North Idaho College.

She started Idaho Scenic Images in 2006 and has traveled thousands of miles throughout Idaho since starting her business. 

"It's hard to get up at 2 or 3 a.m. sometimes living here in northern Idaho," she said. "I often have to travel to Montana and come back via Lost Trail Pass to take a great photo, but it's worth doing so."

Mike and Molly Bennett, owners of Tahoe Fire Glass, traveled from South Lake Tahoe to display their handmade jewelry at Art on the Green. 

Molly said her artistic creativity started at a young age. 

"I've been one of those little crafters all my life. I started doing ceramics, macrame and candles, but ceramics has always been my field," she said. 

Molly said it took her a while to perfect the molds, but she made porcelain jewelry for years.

"Then my supplier started selling glass. I had the kiln already, so I started playing around with it," Molly said. "I initially sold porcelain and glass jewelry but eventually went exclusively with glass. After all these years, I feel like I've just scratched the surface with it. It's amazing what you can do with glass." 

Molly said she and Mike have had a booth at the Taste of Coeur d'Alene for several years, but it is the first time they've displayed their jewelry at Art on the Green. 

"We've been well received here — have had a lot of people stop by our booth and that feels great. We hope to be back again next year," she said.

Art on the Green, Taste of Coeur d'Alene and the Street Fair wrap up today.

Lantzy has also published five books. Her first, Discovering Idaho's Scenic Drives & Back Roads Treasures, was published in 2019. It was followed by Barns of Idaho, Coeur d'Alene-Heart of it All, Idaho, Home of my Heart, and Incredible Idaho-Exploring Majestic Landscapes and Native Wildlife.
