Briefs: Ronan’s Finley lands scholarship; hole-in-one; Griz add 6

Kolby Finley, who helped the Warrior Movement squad win the Native American Basketball Invitational tournament on July 18 in Phoenix, was presented with a $10,000 scholarship by tournament officials.
Finley, who is headed to Montana Tech, was one of three Ronan players on the Warrior Movement team, along with Jhett McDonald and Matiya Nenemay.
The team also included Timothy Rosette III of Box Elder, Semaj Bird and Kymani Fraser of Lame Deer, Carone Little Coyote out of St. Labre and three players from Idaho.
Grizzlies add 6 more gridders
MISSOULA — Montana head coach Bobby Kennedy announced Friday the addition of six players to the Grizzly roster as the team reported for the first day of fall training camp.
The players — three transfers with college experience and three high school prospects — joined the program over the summer, adding to the class that signed in February. The Griz have added 50 new players since the end of last season: 23 from high school and 27 transfers.
Kennedy brought in two defensive linemen (Manase Tupou, who played at Utah State and last fall at MSU-Northern, and Nevada transfer Zaiden Wallace) and one offensive lineman (Wyatt Sandford, a Carroll College transfer) who average 305 pounds.
Freshman safeties Nohi Casco of Maui, Hawaii, and Hudson Schrader of California round out the group along with Australian punter Everett O’Donnell.
Sandford, out of Couer d’Alene, was all-Frontier Conference in 2025. Casco holds the Hawaii state record in the pole vault. O’Donnell, a vceteran of Australian rules football, has two years of eligibility remaining.
Montana has its first full practice of fall training camp Monday. The Grizzlies have their season opener against Southern Utah on Aug. 29 at Washington-Grizzly Stadium.
White notches hole-in-one at Whitefish Lake
WHITEFISH — Benson White fired a hole-in-one Wednesday on No. 4 of the North Course at Whitefish Lake Golf Club.
He used a 6-iron from the black tees for the shot, which covered 205 yards and was witnessed by Desmond White.
