Long Beach holds off Range Riders 6-3 Tuesday

Long Beach’s Benjamin Rosengard hit a pair of RBI doubles and Cole Percival threw seven strong innings as the Coast downed the Glacier Range Riders 6-3 in Pioneer League Baseball Tuesday.

The Range Riders (4-15 this half) outhit the Coast 12-11 but couldn’t make up a 4-0 deficit. Brock Vradenburg hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to cut it to 4-2 and drove in the game’s final run with a double in the seventh. 

In the eighth they left two men on and in the ninth saw Donovan Ratfield single, only for his pinch-runner to get picked off.

Andrew Collins hit a solo home run to put Glacier on the board in the third inning. Pitchers Jacob Hasty, Davis Pratt and Alex Bustamante combined to throw four scoreless innings of relief. Hasty struck out five in his two innings of work. 

Percival, son of Major Leaguer Troy Percival, allowed seven hits, two walks and those two solo home runs. He struck out two. Zach Voelker got the last four outs for his league-leading 14th save.
