SANDPOINT — There will be no shortage of heart-pounding action at the Bonner County Fairgrounds this weekend as the Sandpoint PRCA Rodeo returns to town.
The two-day extravaganza will feature the staples of bull riding, barrel racing and bareback riding in addition to several roping events and steer wrestling. On both nights, gates will open at 6:30 p.m. with the events kicking off an hour later at 7:30 p.m.
Following the action on Friday, Aug. 7, the fairgrounds will be hosting an afterparty featuring live music from Trevor Chambers and the Southpaw Band, a country group from Coeur d'Alene. This event will be free for the public to attend, with no rodeo ticket required to enjoy the energetic stylings of Trevor Chambers' group.
In addition to the professional rodeo events, organizers will also be hosting a stick horse race for children three through eight to participate in on Friday. The entry cost is $5 and includes a stick horse to use during the race; parents can enter their kids at the fair office from Aug. 3 through Aug. 6. The winner will receive a buckle for their champion efforts.
Tickets for the rodeo are $26 and can only be bought from the Bonner County Fairgrounds, either at its website at bonnercountyfairgrounds.com or at the gate. Do not buy tickets from third-party resellers. Seating remains first-come, first-served.
More information on the events, purse and vendors can be found at the rodeo's website, sandpointbonnercountyrodeo.com.
