Sandpoint Sharks host successful open water swim

The Sandpoint Sharks Swim Club made a splash last weekend by hosting its annual Shark Attack Open Water Swim, bringing together more than 60 swimmers of all ages for a fun and exciting morning at City Beach.

The event served as the perfect kickoff to the Long Bridge Swim weekend, welcoming everyone from first-time open water swimmers to experienced competitors. Participants took on the challenge with enthusiasm, and the shoreline was filled with cheers, encouragement and plenty of smiles.

One of the most rewarding moments of the day was watching every swimmer who entered the water successfully cross the finish line. Whether racing for a personal best or simply challenging themselves in open water for the first time, each participant demonstrated determination, courage and a love for the sport.

The Sandpoint Sharks would like to thank the many volunteers, coaches, parents, sponsors and community members who helped make the event a success. Their support ensured a safe, well-organized race and created a welcoming atmosphere for swimmers and spectators alike.

"We couldn't have asked for a better day for the Shark Attack Open Water Swim," head coach Emily Renzini said. "It was incredible to see swimmers of all ages step outside their comfort zones, encourage one another and cross the finish line with huge smiles. That's what this event is all about."

The Sandpoint Sharks would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the many volunteers who dedicated countless hours to making the event such a tremendous success. A special recognition goes to Meggie and Chad Foust, whose hard work, planning and leadership helped ensure the Shark Attack was a safe, fun and memorable experience for everyone involved.

The Shark Attack Open Water Swim continues to grow each year, introducing more athletes to open water swimming while strengthening the local swimming community. With beautiful conditions and outstanding participation, this year's event was one to remember.
