NO. 2881 WHITEFISH PLANNING COMMISSION NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING At the regular meeting of the Planning Commission on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM, the Commission will hold a public hearing on the item listed below. The Commission meets in the Whitefish Council Chambers at City Hall, at 418 E. 2nd Street Whitefish, Montana. The Commission recommendation on the follow item will be forwarded to the Whitefish City Council for a subsequent public hearing on September 21, 2026. City Council meetings start at 7:10 PM and will also be held at City Hall. 1. A request by the City of Whitefish to amend the Vision Whitefish 2045 Community Plan to include a scenic resource survey, text amendments, land use map amendments and implementation section as directed by the Whitefish City Council. (CPTA 26-01 26-01) Tiefenbach Documents pertaining to these agenda items are available for review at the Whitefish Planning & Building Department, 418 E Second Street, during regular business hours. The full application packets along with public comments and staff report will be available on the City’s webpage: www.cityofwhitefish.gov under Planning Commission one week prior to the public hearing date noted above. NO. 2882 CITY OF WHITEFISH NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON BUDGET AND PROPERTY TAXES AND ASSESSMENTS The Whitefish City Council has completed the City’s preliminary budget for fiscal year 2027, its proposed final budget for fiscal year 2027, the appropriations, tax levy and assessments, and budget amendments for fiscal year 2026, which have been placed on file and are open to inspection in the City Clerk’s office located at 418 E. 2nd Street. At the regular meeting of the Whitefish City Council to be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 7:10 p.m. in the Whitefish City Council Chambers, 418 E. 2nd Street, the City Council will hold a public hearing for the purposes of receiving public input and approving a final budget, making appropriations, fixing the tax levy and assessments, and approving budget amendments for fiscal year 2026 for the following: 1) amendments to the annual budget for fiscal year 2026; 2) approve a final budget for fiscal year 2027; 3) levy and assess property taxes, including the Permissive Medical Levy; 4) levy and assess Street Maintenance District No. 1 within the City; 5) levy and assess Special Improvement Lighting Districts No. 1 and No. 4 within the City; 6) levy and assess Parkland and Greenway Maintenance District No. 1 within the City; 7) levy and assess Stormwater Improvement and Maintenance District No. 1 within the City; 8) levy and assess Special Improvement District No. 167 (Downtown Parking Structure); 9) levy and assess for weed control and/or removal of snow, ice and other impediments; and 10) levy and assess for collection of certain delinquent utility service charges. The City intends to increase its general levy to collect additional property tax revenue to cover increasing costs, address the reduction in property tax relief from resort tax, and fund significant capital improvements and equipment purchases. In addition, the Street Maintenance District assessment is proposed to remain the same as the prior year, the Parks and Greenway Maintenance District assessment rate is proposed to increase 3%, the Residential Lighting Maintenance District assessment rate is proposed to decrease 5%, the Commercial Lighting Maintenance District assessment rate is proposed to decrease 10%, and the Stormwater Maintenance District assessment rate is proposed to decrease 20%. All concerned persons are invited to attend the public hearing on the matters described above. A decision on approving the budget, taxes, assessments, and fiscal year 2026 budget amendments will be made after considering comments at this public hearing. Individuals, any taxpayer, or resident may appear or submit written testimony at the hearing and be heard for or against any part of the proposed fiscal year 2026 budget amendments, final budget for fiscal year 2027, appropriations, tax levy, and assessments.
