PRYS named Priest River's top nonprofit

PRIEST RIVER — Priest River Youth Sports was recently named Nonprofit of the Year by the Priest River Chamber of Commerce.

“Priest River Youth Sports is more than a program,” said Tiffiny Simpkins of the Priest River Chamber of Commerce. “It is a place where children learn confidence, teamwork, discipline, and resilience. Through soccer, basketball, and volleyball, they are not just teaching sports — they are shaping futures.”

Each year, Simpkins said the organization reaches hundreds of kids. But those numbers alone aren’t responsible for making Priest River Youth Sports’s impact so powerful. Credit also goes to the moments that the group helps create.

“It’s the first goal scored. The courage to try again after a loss. The friendships built on and off the court,” she said. “These are the victories that matter most.”

Behind every practice, every game, and every success story are countless hours of dedication by PRYS, Simpkins said.

“Coaches, volunteers, and organizers give their time, their energy, and their hearts — often without recognition — simply because they believe in our youth,” she added. “They show up early. They stay late. They go the extra mile. And because of that, our kids have a place to belong, to grow, and to believe in themselves.”

Simpkins said the organization reminds residents that strong communities are built by those who invest in the next generation. She thanked all involved with the group for everything they do for the community and its youth.

“Their work echoes far beyond the scoreboard,” she said in presenting the award. “It lives on in the character of every child they serve. So, tonight, we don’t just honor a nonprofit — we honor a commitment, a passion and a profound difference being made every single day.”
