Bystander pulls man from truck in water at Blue Heron boat launch

An unidentified man was saved by a bystander after the truck he was in rolled into the water at the Blue Heron boat launch early Wednesday morning.

MOSES LAKE — A bystander pulled a man to safety after the truck the man was in rolled into the water at the Blue Heron Park boat launch early Wednesday morning. The unidentified man was seriously injured.
Moses Lake Police Department Captain Mike Williams said the man was one of three people launching a boat at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. The truck began rolling backward down the boat ramp while the man was asleep inside, Williams said.
The truck rolled into the water. The bystander at the boat launch went into the water, broke the truck window and got the man out, Williams said.
People on the scene performed CPR on the victim, who was in critical condition when he was transported, Williams said.

MATTAWA — The Wahluke School District experimented with a new summer learning opportunity, and it looks like a success. The district was one of the first group of schools in Washington to be selected for the DiscoverWorks summer program, the work of a Michigan-based foundation, the Ballmer Group. Bethany Martinez, director of WSD’s Department of Migrant and Multilingual Services, said most children who joined the program stayed with it to the end.
