MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake residence was damaged when its attic caught fire early Wednesday morning.
No injuries were reported.
The fire was reported at about 3 a.m. in the 2100 block of South Beaumont Drive, according to a press release from the Moses Lake Fire Department.
"Arriving crews found heavy fire in the attic, quickly knocked it down and performed salvage operations,” the MLPD release said.
The house was damaged but not a total loss, said Heidi Merritt, MLFD fire administrative coordinator.
"Smoke alarms were installed and activated appropriately,” Merritt wrote in response to questions from the Columbia Basin Herald.

The district was one of the first group of schools in Washington to be selected for the DiscoverWorks summer program, the work of a Michigan-based foundation, the Ballmer Group. Bethany Martinez, director of WSD’s Department of Migrant and Multilingual Services, said most children who joined the program stayed with it to the end.
