Law roundup: Things that go bump in the night

The Kalispell Police Department received a call from a woman who thought someone was in her house when she reportedly heard movement outside her locked bedroom; specifically, the door was moving back and forth. She didn't know — and didn't want to find out without the police — whether someone was trying the door or if it was rattling from a draft from an open window. There were no signs of forced entry.  

Officers kept receiving calls from hospital security, drivers and an apartment resident about a heavyset man wandering around, flagging people down and yelling for rides after being discharged from the medical facility. He finally accepted a ride from the police back to the emergency room, complaining of chest pain, after an officer could not get in touch with a friend to verify if he could stay at the address.  

A woman called the police when morphine she had secured in a locked box went missing. She wanted to report the incident so she could go to her doctor and get more. 

A store employee reached out to police for help removing a man in his early 20s who reportedly refused to leave when asked, as the business "had problems with him in the past." The man then ran away and got into a red car.  

A man was not tossing a salad when he reportedly threw lettuce around the inside a camper and yelled at his girlfriend. He allegedly had a metal rod but put it down and left. She did not want to press charges at the time but was tired of his outbursts. Officers advised her on the process of getting a temporary restraining order.  

A gray and white car with racing stripes allegedly blew through a traffic light and was recklessly weaving in and out of traffic and passing vehicles.  

Montana Highway Patrol stopped a Subaru Outback reportedly straddling both lanes of traffic and had consent to search the vehicle with Kalispell Police assisting.
