The woman arrested following a police chase through Kalispell late last month phoned authorities earlier in the day from Lakeside, inadvertently letting them know she was violating a restraining order, court documents say.  

Prosecutors filed a felony criminal endangerment charge and a misdemeanor count of violation of an order of protection against 51-year-old Laura Ann Johnson-Daley following the July 22 pursuit. She pleaded not guilty before Judge Amy Eddy in Flathead County District Court on July 30 and remains in the county jail with bail set at $50,000.  

Johnson-Daley's troubles began when she allegedly called emergency dispatchers from a Bierney Creek Road home in Lakeside about 6:37 a.m. asking for a civil standby, according to court documents. The home belonged to a man who had an order of protection against her and required Johnson-Daley to remain 1,500 feet away from his home, workplace and vehicle.  

Deputies began looking for Johnson-Daley, who was described as driving a red Chevrolet pickup truck with another individual, court documents said. They found her at a car dealership on U.S. 93 South in Kalispell.  

As a deputy exited his vehicle to approach the truck, Johnson-Daley allegedly fired up the engine, locked the doors and drove off. The deputy described hearing the other person in the pickup shout "no" and "stop" before the pair departed.  

Other law enforcement personnel in the area began tailing her with emergency lights flashing and sirens blaring as she drove toward the city center, court documents said. Driving at or below the speed limit, Johnson-Daley turned onto 12th Street West. From there, she allegedly drove through several stop signs.  

Kalispell Police officers ultimately stopped the truck after deploying spike strips, according to court documents. The Chevrolet came to a halt near the intersection of Third Street West and Fourth Avenue West.  

The man accompanying Johnson-Daley in the truck hopped out and asked officers to get him "away from this crazy [expletive]," court documents said. Investigators learned that Johnson-Daley served as the man's caregiver and was behind the wheel of his truck. She was supposed to be taking him to an appointment, according to court documents.  

Under questioning Johnson-Daley allegedly admitted visiting the home and workplace of the man who had an order of protection against her. The man's co-workers, meanwhile, recounted a woman in a red pickup yelling at them earlier in the day.  

Johnson-Daley is expected to appear back in court on Aug. 13 for a bail modification hearing. A pretrial conference in the case is set for Dec. 15.  

If convicted of the felony charge, she faces up to 10 years behind bars and a $50,000 fine.
