The annual Athol Daze festival is bringing Route 66 through Idaho next week, featuring retro road trip-themed activities including a Classic Pinup and Greaser Contest, a car show and Kids Hot Wheels Races. Festivities begin Saturday, Aug. 8, with a pancake breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Athol Community Center, and last until 6 p.m.
Expect to see:
• A small-town parade beginning at 9 a.m.
• A car show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Game booths and family-friendly activities
• Live country and rock music by The Black Jack Band from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Cake walk at 11:30 a.m.
• Classic Pinup and Greaser Contest at City Hall, 2:30 p.m.
• Food vendors and a beer garden
Prepare to celebrate American small-town spirit at this popular annual event with activities for all ages. General admission is free.
Chorale Coeur d’Alene is kicking off its event season on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 6:30 p.m. with an intimate musical performance at The Jacklin Performing Arts & Cultural Center. The event aims to bring choral enthusiasts and supporters together and help them get to know the choir.
Selected chorale soloists will give special performances while guests enjoy drinks and hors d’oeuvres. This is an opportunity for choral enthusiasts to join Chorale Coeur d’Alene as they describe their vision for the coming year.
Tickets are $60 per person, including hors d’oeuvres, wine, nonalcoholic beverages and dessert. Tickets are available for purchase online at choralecda.com.
KOEP CONCERTS has an exciting lineup of free concerts coming up in the next couple of weeks. On Aug. 9, Dr. Phil and the Enablers are bringing classic rock and blues to The Rotary Bandshell at Coeur d’Alene City Park from 1 to 4 p.m.
Let Paper Flowers take you back to the '70s on Aug. 12 at McEuen Park from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. As a renowned Fleetwood Mac tribute band, Paper Flowers is known for putting their own spin on classic songs and evoking the energy of a Rumors-era Fleetwood Mac performance. Gates open at 4 p.m.
