Rathdrum lodge to give away backpacks

Members of the Rathdrum Masonic Lodge are gathering Saturday to fill backpacks with school supplies. The backpacks will be distributed to students at Lakewood Middle School, Lakewood High School, Betty Kiefer Elementary and John Brown Elementary.

The Masons raised money for the backpacks through donations and their annual dunk tank at Rathdrum Days in July.

“It’s a fun way to get out into the community,” said Worshipful Master of the Rathdrum Masonic Lodge Nate Brown. “People love dunking people.”

Three sizes of backpacks for three age groups will be distributed with 50-piece school supply kits inside. Supplies will include binders, notebooks, pencils and scissors.
