Moses Lake Roundup returns to Grant County Fair

MOSES LAKE — The 83rd Moses Lake Roundup is just over a week away from kicking off at the Grant County Fairgrounds Aug. 20-22. However, community members don’t have to wait until the 20th for the fun to start, as the demo derby will take place Aug. 18-19.
Demo Derby
According to the Moses Lake Roundup, the demo derby competitors will participate in events like dirt biking, a trophy dash, heat races, powder puff races and much more. Wednesday will see a continuation of those competitions as participants will be competing for top finishes. Rodeo Clown Kyle Bode will also provide additional entertainment each night.
Driver check-ins will be at noon each day, with events starting around 7 p.m. Tuesday will be the only day time trials will be held, which starts at 5 p.m. Ticket prices vary depending on placement. Reserved seats in the grandstand (above poles) cost $22 while seats below are $25. General seating tickets cost $20 while kiddos nine years old and under cost $5.
Rodeo
Like last year, the Roundup does not lack events for fans to enjoy. Bareback riding, steer wrestling, saddle bronc, tie down roping, women's breakaway roping, team roping, women's barrel racing and bull riding.
All three nights of competition will begin with a pre-show at 6:30 p.m. before the official event kicks off at 7:30 p.m. General seating costs $25, kids ages 7-9 are $5 and 6 under can get in for free. All active military and veterans are invited to attend the roundup Aug. 21 free of charge. According to moseslakeroundup.com, all you have to do is provide your service ID.

Diaz returns to alma mater, takes over Jacks girls soccer
QUINCY — The Quincy Jacks (11-4-1) begin a new era under new Head Coach Javier Diaz ahead of the 2026 season. Since his arrival, Diaz has felt a lot of positive energy throughout the program, he said. “I'm excited about the prospect of what's going to happen this season,” Diaz said. “I think we're trying to establish a new culture with the girls and hopefully it sticks around for a long time.”
Knights eye state bid ahead of 2026 season
ROYAL CITY — After a strong 2025 that fell just short of a state tournament bid, the Royal Knights (13-3) come into this season eager to take that next step. “I think we need to score,” Head Coach Jens Jensen said. “We need to score from more set pieces than we did last year. That's going to be huge. So free kicks, corners – we got to find more goals.”
