SANDPOINT — Rising rodeo star Tyrel Roberts took home the biggest payday by winning the saddle bronc ride in the Sandpoint Rodeo last weekend at Bonner County Fairgrounds' Mike Flanigan Arena. 

Hailing from Charlie Lake, British Columbia, Roberts, 25, won behind an 85.5-point performance on C5 Rodeo's Vanity Smurf to take home $2,648. Roberts captured the saddle bronc riding category at the Sandpoint Rodeo last year and has been slowly making a name for himself in the rodeo world, winning several events across the country before his performance in Sandpoint. 

Another repeat winner — Tolar, Texas, native Bodee Lammers — reclaimed the bareback riding trophy atop C5 Rodeo's Financed. Lammers, 29, put 81.5 points to narrowly edge out Blackfoot native Clay Stone, 81 points, to take home a $2,420 payoff, the largest of his 2026 campaign so far. 

Hayden Maley, 28, of Roseburg, Ore., is a newcomer to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, but claimed the steer wrestling title last weekend. Maley nabbed his steer in 6.6 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than Touchet, Washington's own Chance Gartner, to earn a $1,308 payoff, the third largest he has earned this year. 

In team roping, it was the combo of Lexis Andrade, 27, and Martin Rucker, 34, who won the trophy to earn a $1,472 payout. Andrade, who hails from Naalehu, Hawaii, and Rucker, who is from Benton City, Wash., completed their challenge nearly a second faster than second place to win the event. The payout is the second largest they've won in 2026. 

Hermiston, Oregon's own Michael Pederson, 32, continued a strong campaign with a tie-down roping victory. Pederson roped his calf in 8.9 seconds to earn a $1,697 payoff. The time is Pederson's best since the Toppenish Rodeo in Washington, 8.4 seconds, and stands as his second best this year. 

A narrow margin handed Kaycie Kayser, 40, the barrel racing title. Kayser's 17.54-second time was 0.07 seconds faster than runner-up Lindsey Ham, and earned the Ellensburg, Wash., native a $1,196 payout. 

While six riders attempted the bull riding competition, none of them were able to stay long enough to notch a qualifying ride, and as such, no prize money was awarded. 

The Sandpoint Rodeo has been part of the PRCA for the last 11 years, joining in 2015, and operates as part of the Columbia River Circuit. The circuit runs through September, culminating in the top 12 earners in each category making their way to Redmond, Ore., for the Boot Barn Columbia River Circuit Championship on Nov. 5-7.
