SANDPOINT — Some of the most important work happens quietly — in a kitchen where Sand Creek Clubhouse clients prepare a meal for each other, work in a garden bed tended together on a summer morning and in the comfort of walking into a place where you're expected and welcomed.

"None of that would be possible without the people and organizations who believe enough in our mission enough to invest in it," said Dr. Dawn Mehra, president of NAMI Far North Idaho. "NAMI Far North Idaho and Sand Creek Connections are deeply grateful for our community champions whose generosity keeps this work — and the people it serves — moving forward.

Sand Creek Connections, Idaho’s first Clubhouse International-certified psychosocial rehabilitation day program, provides a community-based model focused on connection, belonging, and meaningful work for individuals living with serious mental health challenges, Mehra said.

"The program’s continued impact is made possible through the generosity of regional and local funders," she said.

This year, Sand Creek Connections and NAMI Far North Idaho received support from RETOVA (formerly the Marcus Anderson Family Foundation), Equinox Foundation, Innovia Foundation, Community Assistance League, Selkirk Area Realtors, TCC Gives — Verizon, the Bonner County Human Rights Task Force, Avista Foundation and individual donations.

“The belief that everyone has something valuable to contribute to society is what makes our supporters true partners in restoring People (connection), Place (safe space), and Purpose (meaningful work) for our members,” Mehra said. “Their support ensures that individuals in our community have access to a safe space, opportunities for meaningful contribution, and real pathways back into community life, school, and employment.”  Together, these efforts are strengthening a healthier, more hopeful North Idaho.
