Growth policy amendments up for review
Whitefish Pilot | UPDATED 2 months, 3 weeks AGO
The City of Whitefish Planning Commission will have a public hearing on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. to discuss proposed amendments to the city’s recently adopted community plan, Vision Whitefish 2045.
There will also be a work session to discuss the amendments prior to the public meeting, beginning at 5 p.m. This matter is scheduled for a City Council work session and public hearing on Monday, Sept. 21.
The Vision Whitefish 2045 community plan is a policy document for making decisions about future development, city programs and priorities. A growth policy is used as the basis for creating zoning regulations and is the blueprint for the future of the city.
Since adoption of the updated community plan this year, additions and refinements have been made to the plan, which was required by state mandate to be adopted by May 19. Revisions to be discussed at the Planning Commission meeting include a new section on implementation, a new analysis and goals and objectives related to scenic resources as directed by the City Council in relation to allowed downtown building heights, and minor housekeeping related modifications to the place types map and associated place type descriptions based on a more thorough analysis of existing conditions by staff and the city’s land use consultant from czb, LLC, who will also be present to discuss the amendments.
The Planning Commission meeting will be in the City Council Chambers on the second floor of Whitefish City Hall, 418 E. Second St., at 6 p.m. The work session will be held prior to this meeting at 5 p.m. in the City Council Conference Room.
