Scott LeRoy Rucker passed away peacefully Aug. 4, 2026, at the age of 59 at his home.
He was born on Sept. 26, 1966, to Sherman and Sharon Rucker in Sandpoint, Idaho. After graduating from Sandpoint High School, he attended Spokane Falls Community College and earned an associate’s degree in auto body mechanics.
He worked various mechanic jobs until he landed a job at the infamous Melody Muffler in Sandpoint. Scotty served the community for 30 years at Melody. He met Marcie Garcia in 2013 and together they shared a home for 13 wonderful years. Scott enjoyed building fast cars and metal fabrication. If man made it, Scotty could fix it.
He was known for his compassionate and kind heart. His gracious demeanor and unwavering loyalty set the example for all to follow. Quite simply, he would give anyone the shirt off his back and never ask for anything in return.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sherman; and a brother, Stanley.
Scotty is survived by a son, Shay Rucker (Elizabeth); his mother, Sharon Rucker; brother, Steve Rucker (Gwenn); brother, Shawn Rucker (Linda); brother, Sherman Rucker (Wendy); and brother, Stacey Rucker; many cousins; nieces and nephews; extended family; and many, many friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be determined.
