Bergen among 49ers cuts Wednesday

Junior Bergen is on the hunt for a new NFL team after the San Francisco 49ers cut the sixth-round draft pick from 2025 Wednesday.
Bergen caught 145 passes in his career with Montana but was selected by San Francisco with hopes he could fill the kick and punt returner role. He housed eight punts and one kickoff in his time in Missoula, including multiple punt returns during the Grizzlies' run to the FCS Championship game in the 2023 season.
Bergen made one catch during the 2025 preseason and didn't make an appearance in the regular season.
San Francisco also cut punter Jack Bouwmeester and D-lineman KJ Henry.
The 49ers signed cornerback Eli Apple, D-Lineman Xavier Thomas and running back Zamir White to one-year deals Wednesday to fill the roster spots.
San Francisco opens the preseason against the Tennessee Titans Thursday at 7 p.m. at Levi's Stadium.
