SANDPOINT — Bonner General Health has received a third and final installment of a "transformational" three-year, $300,000 commitment to Performance Therapy Services by Idaho Elks Rehab.
The latest $100,000 donation marks the completion of an incredible investment in rehabilitation services that has helped expand access to advanced therapy technology and improve outcomes for patients throughout the region, hospital officials said.
“This partnership has had a tremendous impact on our patients and our community,” said Michelle Tucker, clinic director of Performance Therapy Services. “We are incredibly grateful to Idaho Elks Rehab for their continued generosity and commitment to rehabilitation services. Their support has allowed us to invest in technology that truly changes lives.”
Over the past 10 years, Idaho Elks Rehab has donated about $360,000 in support of rehabilitation services and to advance patient care at Bonner General. Guided by its mission of “Advancing Physical Rehab Across Idaho,” the Elks have partnered with Performance Therapy Services to ensure patients in North Idaho have access to innovative rehabilitation equipment and treatment options close to home, Elks officials said.
Among the most significant purchases made possible through the foundation's support is the RT300 Functional Electrical Stimulation Therapy System, the first investment made with the initial $100,000 donation. Valued at approximately $50,000, the RT300 uses integrated functional electrical stimulation to activate muscles through strategically placed electrodes while patients perform guided cycling movements. The technology helps restore muscle mass in the legs, arms, and core, offering customized therapy for individuals recovering from neurological injuries and other conditions.
Since its arrival, hospital officials said the RT300 has played an important role in countless rehabilitation journeys, helping patients regain strength, mobility, and independence.
The Elks support has also helped Performance Therapy Services acquire advanced rehabilitation technology, including an exoskeleton that provides patients with new opportunities to improve mobility and functional recovery.
“We have been delighted to partner with Performance Therapy Services in support of our mission of advancing physical rehabilitation across Idaho,” said representatives of Idaho Elks Rehab. “Seeing these investments directly benefit patients and improve rehabilitation services in northern Idaho has made this partnership especially meaningful.”
Bonner General Health officials thanked Idaho Elks Rehab for a decade of partnership and generosity. Their unwavering support has strengthened rehabilitation services, expanded access to cutting-edge technology, and helped ensure local patients can receive exceptional care without leaving the community.
